Light and Darkness
While on my trip through Scotland and Ireland, I was especially attracted to the light. We were shown so many different version of light how it plays upon the mountains, lakes, oceans and landscape. I thought about it often. Today when I opened We Are All In This Alone, this meditation appeared. It seemed timely.
These are common analogies that are you used by all of you. You have a darkness in your soul, you see everything as dark, it is dark and foreboding. When you are happy, how do you feel? Light? Little children are afraid of the dark. They often ask to have continuous illumination in their rooms. This is not an anomaly. When you meditate and you take the attention of your eyes to your third eye (in the middle of your forehead), you often will have the experience of light, illumination. Think about how many ways you use the word “light” or “illumination” It is dark or light, it is heavy or light, you turn the light on, it gave off light. Now try illumination. It is used to mean giving off light, but it is also used to represent knowledge. It is also used to refer to sacred texts – Illuminated manuscripts. So what is light? What is Enlightenment? Would you like to have a luminous glow about your person….or “dark circles under your eyes?”
What we are again asking is for you to put your observation on where you spend your time. Do you spend it in light or do you spend it in darkness or in some gray space in-between. How much of your day is spent in lightness? How much is spent in dread, fear, inattention, judgment, worry and stress?
We ask you to try a short meditation. Sit quietly and breathe in deeply through your nose, then slowly out your mouth. Ask out loud to set aside your conscious mind first, then your unconscious mind and then your body. With each request take a deep breath. Also say a short prayer at the beginning that only those that have your highest and best purpose in mind should be near you for the meditation. Breathe during the prayer as well. Then when you have finished these four steps, take one last deep breath and then sit in silence taking your eyes upward to stare at the point in the middle of your forehead that is your third eye. Then you can consciously breathe and stare at the space in your forehead. If “nothing” is happening, imagine light being shone there and then concentrate on that light. Allow yourself to feel the sensations of seeing that light. Allow yourself to be lost in that light for a few moments. You may stay as long as you like, but we are only asking for a few minutes of your time. Experience the power of nothingness and light. This is a divine place that is full of healing, love and insight. Experience it for yourself only and draw in the energy of this moment. Please try this soon.
We leave you in love and light.
