Gratitude

How grateful are you for the life you have?

Not the life you want, the life you have right now, this minute as you read this? Do you realize the grace that is given to you daily to live? Just simply live. Life is a gift most of you don’t seem to want to open. Now this may seem a silly statement since you are all alive if you are reading this, but have you truly opened the gift of life? Are you present with life? Are you ALIVE with life? Do you live your life?

Most of you wander through life bumping up against experiences and people and events. You do not take this thing called life by the horns and grab on for the ride. Think of it like a bucking bull or bronco. How many of you can stay on board, fully present, fully alive for the 20 seconds of bucking that you see in a rodeo? Most of you want to sit on the sidelines of life and judge the performance of others, life itself and passively yourself. Why don’t you want to be a participant rather than an observer?

When was the last time you just reacted in the moment with silliness, joy, laughter or is that too frivolous? Is life too serious to be taken joyfully? Who told you life was serious? Life has serious moments, moments of great joy, moments of great grief. Life is filled with every emotion but you only experience some of them and what is so interesting to us, is that you normally choose to experience the ones that are about gloom, doom, sadness, depression, lack, difficulty and sorrow. Why is it not all right to be happy, abundant, joyful, silly, filled with laughter? Who “told” you that this was not good?  Is it simply too frivolous, too short-sighted, too simplistic?

Much is created in joy. When you are happy you have boundless energy, you have great creativity. Think of people who suffer from manic depression. They have high highs of joy, creativity and release. These are followed by very low lows where the depression, sadness and despair take over. Notice where the word creativity appears – it appears in the joyful or “high- high” period. You can create from joy, there is possibility in happiness and there is abundance in laughter.

Think of when you are feeling full of love and happiness. How does that energy flow from you? Does it rush out in a wish to make others feel the same way? Is there an endless supply of it to share and to experience yourself?  Now think about when you are in depression, lack or sadness. What flows from you then? Do you want to connect with other human beings then or do you withdraw and shut down? Now tell us what is more productive – this serious and sad energy or the one filled with joy, laughter and fun? You can create magnificent things from a place of joy. There is sensibility in happiness. It is not about being frivolous, but rather being energized in the joy of life.

We leave you in love with life.

Namaste
