Exhaustion
How many of you feel tired, run down, exhausted?
Do you sleep well or is it fitful and full of awakenings?
Do you eat correctly and watch your intake of stimulants?
Are you happy?
There are many reasons for exhaustion or overload, but unhappiness is one of the key factors. If you are unhappy with your life, your situation, your place, it is hard to be at peace and therefore it is difficult to be at rest. Depression or just simple unhappiness takes an emotional and physical toll and robs you of your ability to have clarity and peace.
First let us look at your life. Is it sedentary? Do you walk places or do vigorous exercise? Now some of you may go to the gyms that are so popular, but is that exercise satisfying to you? Do you feel energized when you are done or do you feel more tired? The point of exercise is to actually help revitalize you. Now some may tire you because you do it for too long a period of time, but if you could find a correct length of time for yourself it might be more energy enlivening than exhausting.
Next let us look at the nutrition in your life. Do you eat appropriately of whole foods with good volumes of fruit, vegetables and protein or is your diet more carbohydrate, prepared and sugary? Do you drink alcohol often, coffees, teas, sodas that contain caffeine to keep you going? How much water or herbal teas do you consume? Do you listen to your body when it comes to the nutrition you need or do you take the most convenient food item to satisfy the immediate hunger? Food can exhaust your system if it is not being processed correctly for your system. Each person’s system is different, so you must experiment to find out what energizes you and what exhausts you. This is a trial and error approach and takes time, but is worth the effort for it can lead to energy and health.
Now emotion is the final component we will discuss today. How much joy, laugher and happiness do you have in your life? What is your immediate reaction when we ask this question? Do you think – “What do I have to laugh about?” or do you think simply “No, I do not.” There is always something to laugh about, to find amusing, ironic, wry. Life is full of joy and beauty and excitement. It surrounds you and yet most of you wear your martyr blinders that keep you from fully enjoying the scenery that surrounds you because “life” is not matching your pictures. Life is what it is. Nothing more, nothing less. Many of you live in incredible abundance but you do not see it because it is not as much as your neighbor or co-worker or brother or sister or friend. So what? That is their life, not yours.
You have some sort of abundance in your life. Think about what it is. It could be money, it could be family, it could be friends, it could be food, it could be love and it could be joy. Please take some time this week to look at where you have abundance. It may be where you thought you had none, but if you truly look you will begin to see that while it may not be as much you wish, it is more than you really need and once you have more than you need you are in abundance. Now this does not mean that you stop accumulating more of whatever it is, but if you can begin to recognize and acknowledge the first signs of abundance in your life, you can begin to grow that into something larger and more satisfying. As you fan the flames of that which you desire, you will begin to allow more joy, laughter and love into your life. You might take off the blinders of living and with that you will throw off the yoke of exhaustion.
We leave you with love and energy.
