Appreciation

How much do you appreciate what you have right now? The friends and family, the health, the strength, the money, the abundance, the intellect, the understanding?

Now most of you spend much of your time making lists of the things you do not have and bemoaning them with great regularity, but what do you have? What do you appreciate? So please take a moment to make a short appreciation list. Now as you look at that list use it to compare yourself to others. Does this seem silly? Well, that is what most of you do every day. This person is luckier, is richer, is prettier, more handsome, fitter, funnier or more successful. Did you ever stop to think that someone else is comparing themselves to you and finding themselves wanting? Oh, what a revelation! While you sit and wallow in all you do not have, others are sitting out there silently looking at you and envying some aspect of your life. They can appreciate something you have when you cannot. Fascinating!

We can always see outside of ourselves but not inside of ourselves. The more you appreciate who you are – right now before you get the better job, the bigger car or house, get a make-over, build a stronger body, become thinner - you have all sorts of things that are worth appreciating.

Do you want to spend your days in endless judgment of what is not or do you want to begin to create a wonderful world of what you already possess? You can always add to that list of things, but you will find that more difficult if you do not first begin by making the list. Now we ask you to make a longer list and keep adding to it all the things you admire and appreciate about yourself. If this is too difficult, please begin to interview people in your life about things they notice or admire in you. You may be surprised what you find out. Then begin to celebrate those aspects and you will watch the fires of admiration and appreciation and possibility be fanned by this positive breath.

We leave you in appreciation and admiration.
